In the years of 1956/57 various departments for materials, calculation and testing were created in the research centre and testing laboratory for fluid kinetic machines in the Dresden industrial area as well as in the VEB Entwicklungsbau in Pirna/Sonnenstein which prepared the grounds for today's Siempelkamp Prüf- und Gutachter-Gesellschaft mbG (SPG). Both as VEB Gasturbinenbau und Energiemaschinenentwicklung or later as research centre of the Kombinat Kraftwerksanlagenbau the specialist departments have, for more than 50 years, engaged in the testing, calculation and inspection of components and plant components made of heat resistant materials. Thus, the specialist departments of Siempelkamp Prüf- und Gutachter-Gesellschaft mbH (SPG) can fall back on an expansive pool of experience and data. By founding the BWS Prüf- und Gutachterstelle GmbH in 1993 the decisive step into private ownership and thus an independent future was taken. In 1995 the take-over by the Siempelkamp group followed which introduced a new era and a further successful development of the Siempelkamp Prüf- und Gutachter-Gesellschaft mbH (SPG) Dresden.

The SPG is a 100% subsidiary of Siempelkamp nuclear technology. The Siempelkamp group coincide with their individual business units in mechanical and plant engineering and casting technology as an international industrial equipment from different market segments.
